rider numbers –
your rider number is now in the post and either with you or on its way. please fill in the emergency contact details on the back of it and firmly attach it to your handlebars, flat so it can clearly be seen by our marshals and helpers on the day. you will also receive one of our new route cards, to carry in your jersey pocket.
event day info –
car park, start + finish, toilets – 3-1-5 health club, mannin way, lancaster, la1 3pe
the club and event car park open at 0800hrs on the day – please do not arrive before this
*there is a 7-foot barrier at entrance to car park*
if you are in a van or have a bike on roof – a marshal will open the barrier for you
there is a parking eye system which limits parking to 3 hours on the car park – but this is turned off for our event
start / finish times
between 0830hrs and 1000hrs – the start line is a few 100 metres away from 3-1-5 car park – signs and a marshal will show you the way
if your aim is to enjoy a steady ride – please aim to be among the first to start
if you intend to complete the route in a fast time – please aim to start a bit later
event cut-off time – you need to complete your ride by 1730hrs – however the team will not stand-down until each and every rider is safely home or accounted for
your route –
the ram gpx route
there are route marking arrows and safety signs at crucial junctions / hazards throughout the route as well as distance completed every 20 x miles
the ride is 80 x miles long with a couple of challenging climbs –
so may take around 6 / 8 hours + to complete – depending on whether you stop en route or not
your ride –
tri bars – are not allowed by our event insurers british cycling and you will be asked to remove them before starting your ride
helmets – good condition cycling specific helmets must be worn on all all our events
mobile phones – please carry your mobile phone on your ride – so you can call event hq should you need assistance or hq can call to locate / contact you
medication – please carry any personal medication you may need during your ride with you – including epi pens and asthma inhalers
weather – a waterproof jacket must be worn or carried throughout your ride – the weather conditions in the high fells are often a lot wilder and several degrees cooler than the mild, sea level condition enjoyed in lancaster
spares – please ensure your bike is fully functional prior to arriving to our event and carry any spares you may require – a minimum of 2 x inner-tubes / repair kit – multi tool and pump / gas canisters
rules of the road – all road signs must be obeyed and respect shown to all other road users please – remember that we live here and are desperately trying to build good relationships with local communities so these events can continue
food + drink – please carry sufficient food and drinks to complete the 43 miles to the feed station where you can re stock for the remainder of the ride
retiring – should you decide not to complete your ride – you must inform event hq via the tel no on rear of your rider no or inform an event helper / marshal – this will prevent us spending the night trying to locate you
support en route –
medical – a fully equipped ambulance staffed by 2 x professional paramedics is in attendance for the ride – they drive round the course and can be called to incidents by ringing event hq tel no on rear of your rider number
mechanical – several “broom wagons” will be driving round the route – with tools, spare inner tubes etc for basic road side repairs or recovery back to lancaster and can be called to any incidents by ringing event hq tel no on rear of your rider number
feed station – there is 1 x “grab and go” feed station just over half way around the route – providing water bottle re fills and snacks to re fuel – here you will find –
- flap jack pieces of various flavours
- individual malt loaf slices
- bananna pieces
- high 5 berry + bananna flavour energy bars
- baby bells inc vegan version
- fig rolls
- high 5 electrolyte replacement tablets
- high 5 energy drink powders
- vimto + other flavour cordials and water
you will need to carry enough food / snacks / drink to get you to the feed station at around 43 miles into the route
extra refreshments – there are also some brilliant places to stop and buy refreshments along the way – pubs, cafes, tea vans and village shops
back at the finish – you will be given your goody bag containing both a yummy muffin and a protein drink powder – there will also be free hot and cold drinks + snack bars waiting in the finish area too.
hot food – the brilliant replenish cafe inside 3-1-5 health club will be open until 1600hrs + both the nearby holiday and premier inns serve hot meals and there is a handy mcdonalds situated on the road into lancaster
sports massage – free massages are available in the finish area by our very own coach – chris booth
poolside recovery – 3-1-5 health club have kindly offered a discounted guest entry to use their poolside facilities – swim, sauna, steam, jacuzzi and changing rooms all for £5.00 ( normally £15.00) paid at the clubs reception – please remember your towel, swim wear and a small padlock for a locker

“i agree to abide by the british cycling regulations for non-competitive cycling events and understand and agree that i participate in this event entirely at my own risk, that i must rely on my own ability in dealing with all hazards, and that i must ride in a manner which is safe to myself and others. i am aware that when riding on a public highway the function of marshals is only to indicate direction and that i must decide whether any manoeuvre is safe.
i agree that no liability whatsoever shall attach to the promoter, promoting club/organisation, event sponsor, british cycling, or any event official in respect of any injury, loss or damage suffered by me in or by reason of the event however caused.
i will participate in cycling events in a loyal and sporting manner. i have read and agree to abide by the above declarations.”
